As the year comes to a close, the festive season means many of us will slow down for a week or two to recharge which is a great opportunity to reflect – on what has been achieved in the past 12 months and what you want to achieve in the year ahead.

A great question to help unpack this is:

What would 2020 look like if you step into the year as your 100% unshakeable, unbreakable, confident self?

In Chapter 2 of the Core Confidence book we talk about setting goals and taking action; but first, you need to identify what it is that you want – what will 2020 look like if nothing holds you back?

Setting goals helps bring your current and future confident selves together. Creating SMART goals sets you up for success. At the same time it’s also important to understand what might hold you back. In our experience, falling short comes down to a few key things:

  • Setting too many goals
  • Vague or general goals (ie not specific)
  • Benefits of achieving the goals are unclear
  • Lack of capacity to focus on the goal
  • No system to bring the goal to life

Consciously considering these elements when setting goals means you can be prepared when things don’t go according to plan. The road to goal achievement and confidence can be bumpy. When this happens, connect with your why – why is achieving this goal important?

And this time next year, let’s celebrate! What we’ve achieved so far and who we’re becoming.

Wishing all our community a fantastic festive season and a happy, fulfilled and confident 2020.
